Lava Hot Springs Swimming Pool March 6, 2010 --10 am-12 noon We invite Swimmers of all ages and levels to join us in Lava Hot Springs for a Swim-For-Your-Spirit-A-Thon on Saturday, March 6th. Families are encouraged to join us and cheer your swimmers on! About the Swim-a-thon: Funds raised by Swimmers will go towards projects that support HSCS’s mission. Our plan is to arrive, get everyone ready, start the 30-minute time period and then after the swim-a-thon, there will be a free swim period for about an hour (includes access to the indoor rock wall). Lava Hot Springs Pool is generously donating pool time and a small portion of our proceeds will cover your entrance to the pool and the two lifeguards that will be supervising our group. A snack/drink pack will be provided for all participants. How does it work? Swimmers collect pledges from friends and relatives. Typically each swimmer collects 2-10 pledges of $0.25 to a $1.00 or more for each lap (2 lengths) they complete with a goal of raising $10 or more dollars per participant. Swimmers swim as many laps as they can in 30 minutes. Counters stand on the deck and count the number of laps. Younger or less experienced swimmers can wear flotation vests and flippers but must be comfortable in deep water. How to make a donation? Simply complete the pledge form and let the swimmers do the work! After the swim-a-thon, swimmers will contact their donors to let them know how far they swam and collect the pledge. Direct donations accepted. Pledge forms can be found here! Swim-For-Your-Spirit pins will be given to all participants who raise $10. Registration is limited to the first 50 swimmers. Parents, students and teachers are welcome to participate! Registration deadline is February 26th. To Register: please email the full name and age of each swimmer with the number of laps they intend to swim to enelson@humanstrategy.com . If you are a parent who intends to volunteer as a counter, please let me know via email as well. We need about 6/7 counters. Email Emily Nelson: enelson@humanstrategy.com if you have questions. If you are not familiar with Lava Hot Springs check out www.lavahotsprings.org . It is easy to make a family day out of a visit to the area. See you at the Pool! |
